Rue

Ruta graveolens

A woody perennial with unusual grey-green leaves that are finely lobed and fluted. Rue may grow to 3 feet and is beautiful used as an ornamental. Leaves are very aromatic and taste bitter; said to repel fleas and mosquito's and flowers are small and yellowish-green. Take care when tending to the plant; the essential oil in the leaves when exposed to sun can cause skin reactions.

Seed Planting Depth:on surface, lightly cover

Starting Indoors/Outdoors:  Start indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost. Provide 70-75 degree soil temperatures. Transplant 12-24" apart. 

Light Needs:  Full sun to light shade

Soil Needs:Fertile and well drained to a rocky soil.
